Nuts and sunflower seeds are high-calorific food-stuffs. On the average they contain about 500-600 kcal in 100 g, some may contain about 200 kcal. But they almost don’t have carbohydrates, therefore in small quantities they can be eaten without harm for a figure. 10-15 peanuts, cashews of filbert, pistachios are enough to satisfy hunger for a long time.

Dried fruits. The majority of dried fruits are soaked in glucose syrup, that is in sugar. It is unacceptable for a figure and is not useful for an organism. It would be better to buy dried fruits in packing, with the indicated content of useful substances, and also caloric content and the content of carbohydrates. For example:

Violet berries
Bilberry, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry - all these berries contain a lot of antioxidants useful to heart and flavonoids, and also dietary fiber. Berries have natural sweet taste and can replace sweets for a smaller amount of calories.

100 % wholewheat
The key element here is “100 %”.
Using 100 % wholewheat grain-crops, we provide an organism with dietary fiber and the whole spectrum of B vitamins. Dietary fiber quickly fills a stomach and brings satiety.

Nuts
Nuts are rich with proteins and fats useful to heart and due to fats this product is so high-calorie. In view of its toughness, we cannot quickly swallow nuts, therefore we have time to be sated.

Yoghurts
These products are rich with calcium, proteins and bacteria, which improve digestion. There is only one important condition - to choose not sweet yoghurts without fruit additives. Otherwise yoghurt turns from a useful product into not so harmful to figure and health dessert.

Double action foodstuffs - are such products which are useful for health and harmless for a figure. They contain many nutrients and are tasty.

Among double action foodstuffs there are:

Dark green vegetables
The more dark green color of a vegetable, the more nutritious elements it contains. In addition, cellulose and water in vegetables fill a stomach without superfluous calories. However, do not stop only on green vegetables. Other color categories are useful and help to lighten.

White vegetables
The adjective “white” goes well with vegetables. The cauliflower, onions, garlic - all of them have white color and are rich with phyto-chemic substances.

However, do not discount other color categories, they as also useful and help to be fit. Just combine more various vegetables.

Fruit contain a plenty of fructose that allows quickly to get rid off hunger, and also to rescue sweet-lovers from cookies and sweets. However, some fruits can raise weight. For example, there are some cases, when people tried to eat many apples to grow thin, but did not grow thin, and on the contrary put on weight. The reason is that fructose in large quantity leads to increase in weight. Therefore fruit perfectly go for power additional charge between meals, but not instead of it.

1. Usual, pure water without gases. Why water? It is easy to explain. Water does not contain calories at all. Drinking a glass of water, 20 minutes before meal, you can get rid off sharp feeling of famine, as water dilutes gastric juice. Besides, water clears an organism, promotes acceleration of metabolism. Our organism needs about 2 liters of water a day. If to keep this figure, the problem of several superfluous kilos will disappear.

2. The group of protein products. Protein is assimilated slowly and gradually. Protein is converted into glucose, but there are no sudden changes of sugar level in blood, and as consequence, sharp attacks of famine. Protein foodstuffs are meat, fish, and dairy products.
Meat and fish products go well in combination with fresh and stewed vegetables. It is the classical combination checked by time – it really gives result.
And only fish is well combined with rice, not giving superfluous kilos.

There is one important point in struggle against superfluous kg - how many you can eat at one sitting and what food stuffs. It is impossible to tell unambiguously, that eating low-calorie foodstuffs will provide growing thin. For example, cookies contain fewer calories, than nuts. But do you happen to see people, who grow stout from nuts? That’s right! … eating cookies, you very quickly get superfluous weight.

Why does it happen this very way? The matter is in content of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. And, the more simple carbohydrates contains a product, the worse it for our organism as a whole, and for the weight in particular. For example, nuts almost do not contain carbohydrates, despite of high fat percentage. But cookies contain saccharose and starch - carbohydrates which are quickly assimilated.

The researches conducted by the American Institute of Cancer Researches have shown an amazing result: women, who have regularly used olive oil, have 45 % lower risk of breast cancer because of oleic acid, contained in great amounts in olive oil, suppresses activity of a cancer gene called Нег-2/neu.

As olives grow in a hot climate, they produce many polyphenols for protection against baking sun - these substances prevent from clots of blood.

Inhabitants of Mediterranean suffer from cancroid less often than population of cloudier regions. And all of that - because this land is rich with olives.

Cactus in cookery (Part 2)

Sappy fruits of cactuses are berries inherently. They are used the same way, as other berries: used for food raw, for jams, fruit candy, they are baked, etc. Prickly pears are even specially planted, and their berries have become the common foodstuff on the markets of many countries. In Vietnam, due to a damp warm climate, cactuses – epiphytes Hylocereus became widely spread. Their fruits reach 500 g and have already settled down in markets together with local tropical fruits.

Widespread mammiliaria after flowering form many red berries. They are juicy, with the pleasant sourish taste reminding fruits of a barberry. Seeds are very small and do not prevent tasting.

It is said, that the most tasty fruit among room cactuses gives well-known “Tsarina of night” – selenicereus. The only complexity is to find the second blossoming plant for cross-pollination, as a last resort it is possible to try to pollinate with pollen of other kind of cactuses. The formed fruit will be as an apple in size, rather tasty, with pleasant aroma. The peel is densely covered with fuzz and prickles, therefore such berry is simply cut half-and-half.

Fortunately, cactuses are nonpoisonous plants and all who wish can taste it.

Everybody knows that cactus is such exotic muricated creature. But very few people know that they are widely used in cookery. And everything except for thorns is edible: stalks, juice, fruits.

Fortunately, cactuses are nonpoisonous plants. The certain danger comes from thorns and glochidiums. Thorns can be easily enough removed from a surface of a stalk, but glochidiums demand much more caution.

Some species at the excessive use render undesirable influence on an organism because of presence in their juice substances of medication character. But, it is spoken, that these cactuses are unpleasant to taste, so can’t be eaten in large quantities.

In most cases the pulp of cactuses does not differ any especial taste, reminds just a grass more likely. But young shoots of prickly pears have certain taste and are widely used in cookery in hot dishes and various salads. They are spoken to remind cucumbers. Young shoots are also used for a sweet delicacy - candied fruits.
